Around the Track Pad.

I spent the first night of the four–day school hiatus listening to the songs that practically rot my replay button 5 or 6 years back. My forsaken old pink iPod has been lying around for about half a decade but has only successfully managed to catch my attention just recently. Apparently nothing can now be clearly seen from its broken screen except that it still lights up as you maneuver the circular track pad. Yes, remember that? See, this was among the first of its brood, when earth wasn’t too populated with generations of these kind, breaking out one after the other.  Talk about a gadget boom!

This nifty little thing contained my most loved (yet seemingly forgotten) playlist, tracks of which I almost died looking for long long ago. So as I was listening to them again, it felt terribly nostalgic! And can I just say that the 90’s (and the early 2000’s maybe?) produced perhaps the best set of billboard hits crafted by talented musicians and songwriters?  At least they were to me. 🙂 Their songs made the perfect sense, the lyrics were spectacularly written, and the melodies were catchy enough—an amazing blend that can render them classic hits!  I wish there’d be more of today’s songs that will carry on that certain vibe and wit. I mean I have nothing against today’s pop artists nor their songs. I just have a penchant for clever composition and/or musicality, much like what my playlist consist of. Needless to say, I don’t see the point of having to use grubby words, malicious themes and lousy beats just to establish some musical influence. Juuuuust sayyyyinnngg. 😉

Anywayy, allow me to share some of my favorites. Among the tracks I could play on and on (and not entirely from the 90’s) were those from Vonda Shepard, Vanessa Carlton, Savage Garden, Gin Blossoms, Big Brovaz, Jason Mraz, Frankie J, Lighthouse Family and Paula de Anda, plus a few selected ones from movie soundtracks. There are definitely a lot more artists whose singles deserve another chance for revival. So if you want to know what those are, you might want to look around your old high school playlists and relive them for yourself! Happy hunting! 🙂

Laughs. Loves. And I need more music in my life.
